Introduction:

What an incredible summer we’ve had here at Animal Cwtch! From welcoming new staff members to sharing countless memorable moments with our beloved animals, it’s been a whirlwind of excitement and activity. We’re thrilled to share some highlights from our busiest season yet, introduce you to our new team members, and revisit some of our fan-favorite animals.

Welcoming New Staff:

This summer, we were delighted to expand our Animal Cwtch family by welcoming several new staff members who have brought fresh energy and enthusiasm to our team.

Nisha joined us as an animal caretaker, bringing a deep passion for animal welfare and vast experience in handling a variety of species.

Jessica came on board as another animal caretaker with extensive experience in education and a love for all animals, especially the tricky ones.

Lucy is our summer helper, quickly becoming an integral part of our team with a lot of experience with a wide range of animals.

Our children, Sam, Daniel, Jacob and Lucy, occasionally lend a helping hand, making it a true family effort and adding to the warm, welcoming atmosphere we strive to create.

Their contributions have been invaluable in helping us manage the increased demand for our services and ensuring every visitor has an unforgettable experience.

Summer Highlights:

Our summer calendar was jam-packed with events, summer school visits, birthday parties, and community engagements. Here are some standout moments:

School Visits: In the lead-up to the summer holidays, we visited numerous schools across South Wales, bringing our educational programs to life and inspiring young minds with interactive animal encounters. The excitement on the children’s faces as they learned about different species and their habitats was truly heartwarming.

Birthday Parties: Our unique birthday party experiences have been a massive hit, with kids getting up close and personal with their favourite animals. The joy and wonder these encounters sparked were the highlights of our season.

Community Events: From local fairs to charity events, our participation in community activities has helped us reach new audiences and spread our love of animals and animal welfare throughout South Wales.

Animal Favorites:

Our animal friends have been the stars of the show, charming visitors with their unique personalities and fascinating behaviours. Here are a few of the fan favorites:

Mice and Guinea Pigs: Always a hit with the children, these gentle creatures provided endless cuddles and educational opportunities about small mammal care.

Tegu and Blue-Tongued Skinks: Our reptiles captivated audiences with their striking appearances and docile nature, making them perfect for hands-on learning experiences.

Prairie Dogs: Our lively prairie dogs, Steve and Alan, have been a highlight of our educational sessions, enthralling everyone with their social behaviours and curious nature.

Tarantulas and Hissing Cockroaches: While not for the faint of heart, these invertebrates fascinated many visitors and helped break down fears and misconceptions about these incredible creatures.

Penny the Quaker Parrot: Always a favourite, Penny’s vibrant personality and ability to talk have delighted both children and adults alike, making her a standout star in our animal family. A little bird with a massive personality.

Looking Ahead:

As we look into the autumn season, we’re excited to continue building on the momentum of this busy summer. We have many exciting plans, including new animal additions, expanded educational programs, and more community engagements. Stay tuned for more updates, and follow us on social media to keep up with all the latest happenings at Animal Cwtch!
